Operations Update 8/27/20

UPDATES 8/27/20:
  • Coconino National Forest Stage One Fire Restrictions in Effect
    • Stage One prohibits fires that are not in regulation fire rings in established campgrounds. Camp fires are NOT allowed at the backcountry yurts, but are still allowed at the front country accommodations at the Nordic Village- we just ask that you use extreme care in doing so- never leave a fire unattended. We provide water in jugs for you to extinguish your fire- it should be dead out and cold enough that you can run your fingers through the ashes before you leave it for the night.
  • COVID-19 Response at the Arizona Nordic VillageThe Arizona Nordic Village is taking the threat of COVID-19, the novel coronavirus, seriously. We are applying a vigorous cleaning and sanitizing regime to keep our restrooms and lodge area clean, and to make sure our overnight accommodations are safe and clean for you on arrival. We will be responsive to local and national guidance throughout this period and beyond as to what we can safely and legally offer in terms of outdoor access on Nordic Village grounds. In addition to stringent cleaning protocols, we are now requiring that guests wear masks when inside the lodge or using any communal indoor facilities and to stay distanced from staff and other guests. We also encourage guests to travel with people who live in your household, and avoid gathering in large groups while on the property. Additionally, if you or anyone in your party are feeling unwell prior to your stay, we ask that you delay your plans of visiting The Village, see below for our very flexible updated cancellation policy.
  • The Nordic Village trails are open for free summer season access and non-motorized recreation.
    • If you need to use the facilities or communicate with our staff while you are on the property, we ask that you follow all guidelines posted outside the lodge and any direction given by staff, which includes but is not limited to:
      • Wearing a mask when coming in the lodge
      • Physically distancing from others while on the trail and in the lodge
      • Coming into the lodge for the restroom one at a time
      • Spending time in the lodge apart from brief communication with staff is prohibited
    • We appreciate your help in reducing the spread of COVID-19
  • If you’d like to support our operations and the sustainability of our business through these challenging times, we have online e-gift cards for any amount available – which can be applied toward a future backcountry yurt booking- and yurt and cabin booking is open into the winter season for the front country and backcountry accommodations!
  • In addition to gift cards, we also have some new stickers and apparel now for sale online!

Booking changes and cancellations

If you are concerned about the risk of traveling in the coming months, the Nordic Village is happy to work with you.

We would prefer that you reschedule your trip rather than cancel your existing booking if at all possible. That helps us as a small business to continue to operate and keep our employees on payroll. Whatever you decide, we will provide a no-fee change or full refund for bookings of stays from now through the rest of the year. If you have any questions or concerns, please send us an email or call us at 928-220-0550 and we will help however we can.

For more information on how to reduce your own risk of contracting and transmitting COVID-19, please refer to the CDC’s webpage: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/prevention.html
